Media, Creator, and Art Law
Matthew’s work sits at the intersection of law, media, technology, business, and creative expression. He helps clients evaluate rights before publication, respond when their work is copied or misused, address claims and demand letters, protect brands and creative assets, and navigate disputes involving digital platforms, emerging technology, and modern media.

He earned his Juris Doctor from Western New England University School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts, in May 2005. Matthew graduated magna cum laude, ranked eighth in a class of 190 students, and passed the Massachusetts bar examination on his first attempt that summer. While in law school, he served as an assistant editor of the Western New England Law Review.
In May 2010, Matthew earned a Master of Fine Arts from Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Law, Media, and Creative Work
This unusually broad education—spanning law, politics, philosophy, film, and fine arts—shapes Matthew’s approach to modern media disputes. These disputes rarely exist only on paper. They involve expression, technology, business realities, creative choices, audience expectations, and reputational consequences. Effective representation requires understanding that complete context, not merely identifying an abstract legal risk.
Matthew has written extensively about copyright, fair use, trademark law, broadcasting, artificial intelligence, digital rights, creator protection, and the responsibilities that accompany modern publishing. His legal analysis and commentary form the foundation of the Harrison Legal Group knowledge base.
His work outside the courtroom also includes video production, photography, graphic and web design, and AI-assisted creative projects. That direct involvement in media creation provides practical insight into how content is conceived, produced, edited, distributed, licensed, and monetized.
